Spelman Glee Club Attire
All members of the Spelman College Glee Club are required to wear specific attire when performing at events. The formal black attire is our most recognizable uniform when performing at events such as Spring Concert, Spelman - Morehouse Christmas Carol Concert, Spring Tour, and other outside performances unless dictated by a Wardrobe Mistress to wear SCGC approved attire. The formal black dress, pearl necklace, tear drop earrings, and red lipstick will be issued to all first-year students by the Wardrobe Mistresses at the beginning of the academic school year.
In addition to the formal black attire, all first-year students are required to wear the“traditional white dress ensemble” in the spirit of the Spelman tradition. All students are required to wear it when attending the Founders Day Convocation and Baccalaureate Services, unless dictated by a Wardrobe Mistress to wear otherwise. As such, the traditional white dress attire is as follows:
-
A conservative, solid white dress, a skirt suit. The dress or suit should be “true” white -- not off-white or cream. For first-year, sophomore and junior students, the white dress or skirt can range from ankle or calf length to two inches above the knee.
-
Flesh-toned hosiery
-
Black, closed-toe flats
-
No Jewelry
